The Pathological Anatomy Bureau of the Rostov Region is seeking a contractor to manage the disposal of organs, tissues, and fetuses weighing up to 500 grams, как пишет "Donday.ru".
A company is being sought in the Rostov region to handle the collection, transport, cremation (incineration), or burial of Class "B" pathological and organic surgical waste. The Pathological Anatomy Bureau of the Rostov Region is the contracting authority for this service.
The technical specifications outline that the chosen contractor will be responsible for removing and disposing of Class "B" waste from 21 pathological anatomy departments throughout the region. Six of these departments are located in Rostov-on-Don, with one each in Belokalitvinsky District, Veshenskaya stanitsa, Egorlykskaya stanitsa, Krasnosulinsky District, Gukovo, Millerovsky District, Morozovsky District, Salsky District, Azov, Bataysk, Volgodonsk, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Novoshakhtinsk, Taganrog, and Shakhty.
Class "B" waste includes pathological and organic surgical materials, which must be either cremated or interred in designated graves within cemeteries. This category encompasses organs and tissues, as well as fetuses weighing up to 500 grams, including those resulting from abortions and miscarriages. New regulations for registering newborns were implemented in Russia at the start of 2012. Under these rules, a fetus weighing 500 grams or more is considered a child. Consequently, a stillborn infant weighing less than 500 grams is subject to disposal alongside other biological waste.
According to the established plan, the selected company will be required to visit morgues, collect the waste in yellow containers, and then transport it to a specialized disposal site for processing.
The contracting authority is prepared to allocate 7.9 million rubles for the collection and removal of these materials until the end of the current year.
A few years prior, a similar company faced controversy. In February 2023, residents of Bataysk reported a strong, unpleasant odor emanating from a landfill in the village of Zalesye, where medical waste was being incinerated. Investigations revealed a fire at the site. Local residents who accessed the landfill were reportedly shocked by what they discovered, including medical test tubes containing blood, yellow containers marked "Hazardous Waste," and even human body parts. The incident escalated to the attention of the regional governor, prompting concerned citizens to collect signatures demanding the cessation of the company"s operations.
